Right of withdrawal and returns
As a consumer you may withdraw from the purchase within fourteen days without giving any reason. This applies if we conclude the contract at a distance — through this site, by email or by phone — or outside our business premises, for example at your home. This page explains how that works.
When the cooling-off period runs
The fourteen days start on the day you — or someone you designate — receive the product. If your order consists of several shipments, the last one counts.
How to notify us
Within those fourteen days, send us a clear statement: by email to hi@retreathouse.nl or by post to the address below. You may use the model form at the bottom of this page, but you do not have to — an ordinary email is enough. We confirm receipt.
Sending it back
Send the product back within fourteen days after your notification to:

You pay the cost of returning it.
Handle the product with care during the cooling-off period: unpacking and inspecting it is fine, as you would in a shop. If you use it further and its value decreases as a result, we may deduct that decrease in value.
Your money back
You get back everything you paid, including the standard delivery costs of the outward shipment — at the latest fourteen days after we have received the product back, or after you have shown that you sent it. We refund using the same means you paid with, unless you agree otherwise. If you chose a more expensive delivery method than the standard one when ordering, you do not get the extra cost of that back.
If you want us to start during the cooling-off period
That is possible, but only if you expressly ask for it yourself. If we meet at your home, we put that request on paper or in an email, so you can keep it. You keep your cooling-off period: if you then withdraw anyway, you only pay for what has been done at that moment.
If you requested to begin the performance of services during the withdrawal period, you shall pay us an amount which is in proportion to what has been provided until you have communicated us your withdrawal from this contract, in comparison with the full coverage of the contract.
If you would rather we start only after the fourteen days, just say so — then we wait.
When it does not apply
The cooling-off period does not apply to everything. The main exceptions:
- products made to measure or to your specifications;
- products that spoil quickly or have a limited shelf life;
- sealed products that cannot be returned for reasons of hygiene, once the seal has been broken;
- a service we have fully performed within the cooling-off period with your express consent — and only if you also declared in advance that you lose your right of withdrawal once we have finished. Without that declaration you keep your cooling-off period, even if the work is already done;
- digital content supplied after you expressly consented and acknowledged that you thereby lose your cooling-off period.
